International Student Interview

The International student that I interviewed was my friend Rogelio Leal. He is from Mexico, and he first came to the United States when he became a student at Lindenwood University. When I asked Rogelio how the media in Mexico was different from the United States, he told me that the media is similar to Americans, but also different. He told me that Artwork and performing arts are much different in their country, and that the news on television and in newspapers is mostly about current events that occur in Mexico. Also, most magazines, newspapers, and books are in Spanish and that the news is also all in Spanish. Furthermore, movies in Mexico are mostly in Spanish and come in English subtitles, or they are translated in English. Rogelio seems to believe that the media controls way too much of the news and lifestyle of people living in America. He thinks that magazines, politics, and news have way to much influence over the American people, and to a certain extent, people are controlled by it. I learned that the lifestyle of American people is not necessarily like the way of life in other countries around the World. Every country and every nationality is different and has different things that make it special to the rest of the world

It doesn't surprise me to hear that a person from a different country has noticed that Americans tend to let the media take over their lives.

I have to agree that the United States definety has a different way of presenting media to its population.
